Hosmer: Mets pitchers 'have to have long hair and throw 100'
Kansas City Royals first baseman Eric Hosmer noted two common characteristics several of his World Series counterparts have in common.
"To be a (New York) Mets pitcher, you have to have long hair and throw 100 mph, it seems like," Hosmer told reporters Monday, the eve of the 111th Fall Classic.
The Mets certainly have several flamethrowers that meet Hosmer's description, with Noah Syndergaard and Jacob deGrom both boasting the long locks.
''We got some guys that think they have good hair, but I don't really know,'' Mets short-haired third baseman David Wright said. ''I saw some Halloween costumes with their hair, and it's bad. They look bad. I tell them every day.''
Despite the scrutiny from their captain, deGrom said he has no desire to sport a new look.
''I do want to cut it,'' deGrom said. ''I haven't cut it at all this year.''
