Carlos Quentin regrets his decision to retire from baseball last May.
The former two-time All-Star will attempt a comeback in 2016, according to his agent.
"He's been working at first base and he's got himself in position where he thinks he can play first base and outfielder, and also DH," agent Brodie Van Wagenen told CBS Sports' Jon Heyman.
Quentin, who suffers from chronic knee injuries, retired while playing in the minors for the Seattle Mariners organization. He hasn't played more than 100 games in a season since 2011, and hasn't appeared in a big-league contest since 2014, when he played 50 games for the San Diego Padres.
Quentin, 33, is a career .252/.347/.484 hitter with 154 home runs and 491 RBIs over nine seasons.
