Greinke, Kendrick reject qualifying offers from Dodgers

Though left-hander Brett Anderson accepted his qualifying offer from the Los Angeles Dodgers, right-hander Zack Greinke, and second baseman Howie Hendrick both rejected their respective one-year, $15.8-million offers ahead of Friday's deadline.

If the Dodgers are unable to work out a new deal with Greinke or Kendrick, the club will receive draft-pick compensation when they sign elsewhere, while the teams that acquire them will be forced to forfeit their top unprotected picks in the 2016 draft.

Greinke, who turned 32 last month, should command a lucrative long-term contract on the open market after fashioning a league-best 1.66 ERA (225 ERA+) with a 0.84 WHIP over 32 starts in 2015.

Kendrick enjoyed a fine season, too, after being acquired from the Angels last winter, hitting .295/.336/.409 (107 OPS+) with nine homers, while managing 2.1 wins above replacement in 117 games.
