Report: Daniel Murphy rejects qualifying offer from Mets

Daniel Murphy is poised to test the free-agent market.

The second baseman has rejected a one-year, $15.8-million qualifying offer from the New York Mets, according to ESPN's Adam Rubin.

New York will receive draft-pick compensation if Murphy signs with another club.

The 30-year-old was front and center in the postseason spotlight after leading the Mets' offensive surge through both the National League Division Series and NLCS, only to falter in the World Series thanks to a pair of defensive miscues that proved costly.

In the regular season, Murphy hit .281/.322/.449 with 14 home runs and 79 RBIs.
