Chen and the Marlins have reached agreement on a five-year, $80 million contract that includes a sixth-year vesting option, ESPN.com reports.

Analysis:

According to ESPN's Buster Olney, the sixth-year option is based on innings pitched, and the contract also includes an opt-out after the second year. The 30-year-old Chen should enjoy a move from the American League to the National League, not to mention a move from Camden Yards to Marlins Park, which takes on added importance because of his fly-ball tendency.
