Who would win an MLB Royal Rumble?
The WWE's Royal Rumble is one of the most talked about events in sports entertainment, and the 2016 version is scheduled for Sunday at the Amway Center in Orlando, Fla.
MLB players, like wrestlers, are constantly battling for titles of their own while trying to become legends at their craft. But if some of the game's superstars were to lace up some boots and step into the rumble, who would be the last man standing?
Here's a list of players who could withstand the brutality of the unique event, and potentially walk away the newly-crowned champ.
'The Immovable Object' Miguel Sano
Every rumble needs a big man, and Sano fits the bill, standing 6-foot-4, 260 pounds. Too bad Sano's size will put a target on his chest, as everyone in the ring teams up to toss the giant over the top rope.
Sneaky Chase Utley
Utley's takeout slides won't have the same kind of effect in the ring, and although a steel chair is within distance, he can't use it on everyone without a referee eventually noticing, spelling his exit from the rumble.
'The Magician' Bartolo Colon
Whether it's behind-the-back tosses or his entertaining at-bats, Colon has a magical touch. Unfortunately, that touch doesn't translate to the rumble, as his spells fail him en route to an early elimination.
High-Flying Francisco Lindor
Lindor has all the characteristics of a WWE high flyer. Unfortunately, the top rope can be an enemy in the dangerous event, and one of Lindor's acrobatic attempts leaves him sprawled across the arena floor, eliminated from the rumble.
Faction Leader Yordano Ventura
Ventura usually has a pack by his side defending his temperamental antics, but the rumble is more of an all-for-yourself affair. Without his backup, Ventura's chances of winning are numbered.
'MVP Mayhem' - Bryce Harper and Josh Donaldson
The MVPs may be the hottest tag team entering the rumble, but they're forced to split during the every-man-for-himself event. With the title on the line, the normally cohesive team turn on one another, leading to both of their eliminations.
Alex 'The Corporation' Rodriguez
MLB's version of "The Corporation" has the swagger and brains to do some damage in the rumble, but ultimately being corporate doesn't pay off, as he's eventually ousted by a franchise player. Good thing he's got other ventures on the horizon.
David 'One Last Ride' Ortiz
This old dog normally doesn't need new tricks, as his career has proven that what he does works. But the rumble is a different beast, and although it would be a fitting end to his storied career to walk out a champ, he falls just short.
'The Instigator' Jonathan Papelbon
Everyone loves a bad guy, and no one has lived up to that title more than Papelbon. Although his hot temper gives him that extra something to make it deep into the rumble, it also becomes his downfall as cooler heads prevail when the heat is on.
'The Prodigy' Carlos Correa
The next big thing will be one of the last men standing in the rumble, showcasing why he's the future of the league with all the skills of an eventual champion, but it's the present, and two men still have his number.
Miguel 'Triple Crown' Cabrera
The last man to win a Triple Crown has not only the build of a wrestler, but the wit and skill of a legend. The two-time MVP survives the rumble to the near end, which features a showdown with a nemesis from his past, who he's beaten twice before, but cannot best for a third time.
'The Franchise' Mike Trout
The franchise. The poster boy for success. The man you want wearing the strap representing your brand. He has all the tools and has proven he has what it takes to be the best. Trout is the winner of the MLB Royal Rumble, and is expected to bear the title for a long time.
