Things are finally starting to get back to normal for CC Sabathia.
The New York Yankees left-hander spent the offseason addressing his demons, but on Tuesday, he was able to get back to work.
Sabathia tossed two hitless innings against the Miami Marlins, allowing one walk and striking out a pair on 25 pitches. He was replaced by Luis Cesa to start the third.
It was the first time the 35-year-old set foot on a major-league mound since abruptly announcing last October that he would be leaving the team, in order to check himself into rehab to battle alcohol addiction.
Sabathia opened up earlier this week about his battle with alcoholism, which reached a tipping point prior to last year's American League wild-card game when he found himself drinking alone in his hotel room.
Since spending 29 days in rehab, Sabathia claims he's physically and mentally stronger than ever. The six-time All-Star is owed $25 million this season and has a $25-million vesting option for 2017 that includes a $5-million buyout.
