Chicago Cubs shortstop Addison Russell may only be 22 years old, but the sophomore drives a hard bargain.
After Jason Heyward signed an eight-year, $184-million deal this winter, the Cubs new center fielder also wanted to stake claim on No. 22, which was occupied by Russell.
The cost was significant.
Russell, who now wears No. 27, acknowledged during a Twitter mailbag with ESPN that in return for the number he received a Gucci wallet and backpack along with a Breitling watch.
Not a bad return for Russell, who will earn close to $17 million less than Heyward this season.
