Johnny Damon: I want Trump for president
Well, we almost made it a full day without some retired ballplayer pledging fealty to Donald Trump.
On Wednesday, less than 24 hours after beloved New York Yankees outfielder Paul O'Neill received an enthusiastic shoutout from the candidate at a Trump rally in Jupiter, Fla., Johnny Damon - another former Yankees outfielder - wholeheartedly endorsed the controversial Republican, too.

"I want (Trump) for president," Damon told Christian Red of the New York Daily News. "I'm a Trump fan ever since I met him seven or eight years ago. Everything he does, he does first-class - his hotels, his businesses, his golf courses. The issues all the other politicians failed to discuss, (Trump) is bringing us up to speed."
Damon, who won two World Series championships and notched 2,769 hits over 18 seasons in the majors, could have easily decided not to support Trump, however, given their history together. Last year, Trump fired Damon on the season finale of "Celebrity Apprentice 7" despite a flawless 2-0 record as project manager.
Still, the former Yankees and Boston Red Sox star harbors no resentments toward Trump, and now supports the businessman-turned-politician.
"If (Trump) needs me anywhere, I'll be there. He's a good friend," said Damon.
