Gossage rips Blue Jays, Epstein in latest tirade
The goose is loose and he's adamant about getting his point across.
Hall of Fame pitcher Goose Gossage, who's been incredibly opinionated about the direction of baseball over the last week, sat down with ESPN Radio Chicago's "Waddle and Silvy" on Friday and continued to unleash more of his verbal fury, which appeared to lead to a sit-down with the New York Yankees.
Here are some of the best quotes from an entertaining, and at some points heated, interview.
Jose Bautista and the Toronto Blue Jays

Gossage first put himself into hot water on Thursday after calling Bautista a "disgrace to the game," for showing up pitchers, which he touched on again in this interview:
It makes my skin crawl when I watch Bautista throw his bat like he threw his bat last year. And the whole Toronto team basically acting like fools, jumping up and down. What have they won? Nothing.
When asked if he blamed Blue Jays manager John Gibbons or others in charge of baseball teams for not monitoring player's behavior, Gossage exclaimed the following:
Absolutely ... You were supposed to act like a professional ... Now it's all about self promoting. Hitting home runs and bombs, showing up the pitcher and trotting around, doing your little act, your tired little act ...
Bryce Harper

During Harper's interview Thursday with ESPN - where he opined that old school baseball was "tired" and declared his feelings towards players being given more opportunities to express themselves - set Gossage off:
What does this kid know? This kid doesn't know squat about the game and no respect for it. Here he is making million of friggin' dollars ...
Let me tell Bryce Harper something. Go look at the history and figure it out and quit acting like a fool.
Baseball "nerd" Theo Epstein

Gossage was adamant in his comments Thursday that "nerds" - who are "running" the game - are turning baseball into a "freaking joke." When asked if he thought Chicago Cubs president Epstein, who's known to cite analytics when making baseball decisions, was a nerd, Goose had some interesting things to say:
They got rid of him in Boston because of the analytics. That's what I was told by (Boston Red Sox owner) John Henry. He had enough of it.
And what did Gossage have to say about the Cubs potentially winning the World Series?
I don't know. We'll see. They should on paper out of the computer ... We'll see. Hey, Toronto was supposed to win it all. Look how those fools acted up there. They acted like they won the World Series, running around like a bunch of idiots and they didn't win anything.
The San Francisco Giants

And while Gossage was continuing his negative tear, he did credit one franchise for doing things "the right way," praising the Giants for how they run their organization:
I'll tell you who does it the closest to anybody is San Francisco. And they won three out of the last five World Series. They do it the old fashioned way with some analytics involved.
You look at their lineup and go, how do they win? I tell you how they win. They do the little things ... San Francisco is full of players that do the little things. They get these guys they know that they can play ... (Hunter) Pence, look at Pence, what a player he is.
