Cueto showing no signs of concussion after liner to head
San Francisco Giants right-hander Johnny Cueto showed no signs of a concussion after taking a line drive to the head in Monday's spring game against the Oakland Athletics, manager Bruce Bochy said.
Bochy added that team doctors will continue to monitor Cueto for symptoms on Tuesday after Athletics outfielder Billy Burns sent a screamer back to the mound that caromed off Cueto's forehead on his first pitch of Monday's game.
Cueto would stay in the game to complete three innings before departing to undergo team concussion protocol.
"He responded well out there," Bochy said of Cueto's response to the comebacker. "It's why he stayed in the game. He answered all the questions from our trainer out there."

Originally, the Giants announced he was then taken to the hospital for a precautionary examination. Later, the team clarified that he did not go to the hospital and instead was brought back to the club's complex in Scottsdale and treated for a bruise.
Cueto coughed up three runs - all on a Josh Reddick three-run homer in the first - and five hits. He walked one and struck out two.
San Francisco invested $130 million over six years in the 2015 World Series champion this offseason with hopes he'd fill in admirably behind ace Madison Bumgarner in the starting rotation.
