Analysis:

Initial x-rays came back negative after Ethier fouled a ball off his shin Friday, but follow up results spotted the fracture. It won't require surgery, but he's still looking at a lengthy absence that could sideline him until at least the start of June. Carl Crawford and Scott Van Slyke figure to step in and shoulder the left field duties in Ethier's stead.
