VIDEO: The 'Bringer of Rain' makes Weather Channel debut
The "Bringer of Rain" Josh Donaldson is known by many for his appropriately matching Twitter handle. But much to the dismay of The Weather Channel, it learned it has nothing to do with actual precipitation.
The Toronto Blue Jays third baseman appeared as a guest on the network Tuesday where he explained the surprising gladiator-like origins of the nickname, disappointing the crew who was hoping for something actually weather-related.
Donaldson did, however, provide the hosts with an appropriate story, recounting the time actual rain confined the American League MVP to the ballpark until 1 a.m. The channel might consider giving MVP runner-up Mike Trout a call next time it's in need of a special weather report from an MLB superstar.
