Abby Wambach pleads guilty to DUI charge, will enter diversion program

In a Portland, Ore., court Tuesday, former U.S. soccer player Abby Wambach pleaded guilty to charges of driving under the influence of intoxicants, and has agreed to enter a diversion program for first-time offenders.
She has also been ordered to complete drug and alcohol treatment, and will have a breathalyzer installed in her vehicle, The Oregonian reports.
The 35-year-old was arrested April 2 after running a red light and failing field sobriety tests. One day after the arrest, she posted an apology on Facebook, taking full responsibility for her actions.
By entering the diversion program, Wambach could see her charges dismissed within a year if all aspects of the program are completed.
