D.C. United signs Alhaji Kamara
D.C. United has acquired forward Alhaji Kamara out of Swedish first-division outfit IFK Norrkoping for an undisclosed fee, the club announced Wednesday.
The 22-year-old Sierra Leone international joins the club after failing to meet UEFA health guidelines, as Kamara suffers from a congenital heart issue.
Still, under management of club doctors, D.C. United feels confident he can be a complementary piece to fellow attackers Fabian Espindola, Chris Rolfe, and Alvaro Saborio.
"Alhaji is a fast, dynamic striker ... a true No. 9," club general manager Dave Kasper said in a statement. "His strength and speed immediately caught our attention and he has a nose for goal. He scored some big goals for his club last fall that helped them win the championship and qualify for UEFA Champions League."

D.C. United's Kamara is no relation to Columbus Crew forward Kei Kamara, though the two did play together for the Sierra Leone national team. He's not related to the Crew's other forward, Ola Kamara, either.
