New York City FC captain David Villa went from hero to zero real quick as he scored a sublime chipped goal off an Andrea Pirlo pass before woefully missing a penalty minutes later.
Pirlo found Villa with a long looping pass from midfield, and El Guaje controlled the ball with his chest before chipping goalkeeper Joe Bendik in the 66th minute to give his team a 2-0 lead.
The Spanish striker had a chance to triple NYCFC's lead from the penalty spot just five minutes later, but slipped in the run-up to his shot, sending the ball well high above the crossbar.
