Guardado weighing up options for MLS move
Mexico international Andres Guardado said being linked with a move to Major League Soccer is flattering and admitted he's given a little bit of thought to those rumors.
Guardado's due to return to PSV Eindhoven after spending part of the summer with El Tri for the Copa America Centenario. He hasn't ruled out a move in the transfer window, though.
"It would be a lie if I told you I hadn't (thought about MLS)," Guardado said, according to ESPN FC. "You start to analyze your future ... And we know that careers are short as well."
The former Valencia midfielder was linked with expansion outfit Atlanta United, with Grant Wahl reporting that Atlanta would need to pay Guardado between $3.5 million and $4 million per year to secure his signature, along with a transfer fee to PSV.
Those numbers are comparable to Guardado's compatriot Giovani Dos Santos, who joined the LA Galaxy for $4.1 million per year.
Those figures, in addition to his age, have Guardado pondering his future.
"I will turn 30 in September and I can't close the door on a growing league and I'm thankful for the interest, it's flattering," Guardado said, according to MLSsoccer.com. "At the moment there is nothing, but to have my name mentioned is flattering because of the figures that are there."
