Galaxy beat Orlando City in Donovan's return
Los Angeles - Giovani Dos Santos scored twice as the Los Angeles Galaxy beat Orlando City 4-2 on Sunday in a match that marked the return to MLS of Landon Donovan.
Donovan, the league's all-time leading scorer, didn't enter the contest at Los Angeles' StubHub Center stadium until the 83rd minute and he did not attempt a shot on goal.
Donovan retired after the 2014 season but was welcomed back this week by the injury-riddled Galaxy.
Los Angeles now has 47 points with five games left in the season. The Galaxy vaulted past Real Salt Lake and Colorado into second place in the Western Conference, four points behind leader FC Dallas.
Orlando City had its two-game winning streak snapped and still clings to the sixth, and final, Eastern Conference playoff spot, a point in front of DC United and New England.
