Montreal Impact clinch playoff berth after Chicago victory
The Montreal Impact secured a berth in the 2016 MLS postseason Sunday, despite drawing bitter rival Toronto FC 2-2 in the 401 Derby, as the Chicago Fire's 2-1 win over the New England Revolution assured Mauro Biello's side a spot in the playoffs.
The Impact nearly came away with a win courtesy of a pair of goals from Ignacio Piatti, but a late effort from Toronto's Tosaint Ricketts saw the sides split the points at Stade Saputo.
Instead, the Impact, without star striker Didier Drogba due to a reported conflict with the club, relied on other results to clinch a playoff berth.
Needing a draw or a New England loss, the Impact were greeted by the news that the lowly Fire secured a 2-1 win over playoff-hunting New England.
David Accam scored an 80th-minute goal to claim all three points in a match that saw both teams reduced to 10 men in the second half.
Just a beauty of a ball.

With Accam's goal, the Impact now switch focus to the 2016 postseason, but might have other problems to deal with as Drogba - out officially with a "stiff back" - might become something of a pressing issue in the coming days.
