D.C. United re-signs Sean Franklin
D.C. United has re-signed free-agent defender Sean Franklin to a multi-year contract, though specific terms of the deal were not disclosed in Monday's announcement.
The 31-year-old has enjoyed a nine-year career in MLS where he's made over 240 regular-season appearances. He's spent the last three seasons with D.C. United after six years with the LA Galaxy.
"Sean has been an important player for our team over the past three seasons," club general manager Dave Kasper said in a statement. "He has been among the best veteran defenders in the league, and his experience and leadership have been invaluable to us.
"We are pleased to have Sean back and look forward to his continued contributions in 2017."

Predominately played at right full-back, Franklin can also play in the middle of the back four, and offers Ben Olsen plenty of versatility and veteran experience.
He made 29 starts last season, scoring one goal and adding a pair of assists.
