Portland Timbers acquire Cristhian Paredes from Club America on loan
The Portland Timbers were watching the Sudamericano Sub 20.
On Friday, the Timbers acquired Cristhian Paredes from Club America on loan for the 2018 Major League Soccer season, utilising Targeted Allocation Money, with a purchase option.
"I was training with my club, America, and I talked to my representatives," Paredes said. "He said, 'Cristhian, get ready, we're going to MLS.' I'm here now, and I'm very happy."
Paredes is atop the list of Paraguay's promising outfield players. In 2017, the teenage central midfielder stood at the Sudamericano Sub 20, although it must be noted the tournament was dismal and highlighted by a dearth of talent. The product of Club Sol de America subsequently joined America and made his international debut, taking the pitch as a second-half substitute in a friendly between La Albirroja and France.
