Victor Vazquez's season has been cut short after the Toronto FC midfielder underwent knee surgery.
Toronto FC announced Monday that Vazquez will miss the team's remaining three matches of the Major League Soccer season following successful arthroscopic surgery on his right knee.
The procedure normally results in a recovery period of six-to-eight weeks.
News of Vasquez's absence comes just over a week after TFC's pitiful title defense came to an end, having been eliminated from playoff contention.
Vazquez scored eight goals and provided nine assists in 26 matches in all competitions this season.
Last season, Vazquez was rewarded for his valuable contributions to TFC's march toward the MLS Cup by an inclusion into the league's Best XI.
