Morgan, who plays her club soccer for the Orlando Pride, had planned to return to the national team in time for the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo, and she continued to train well into April.
With the coronavirus pandemic pushing the event back to 2021, the 30-year-old gets an extra year to prepare for the Olympic Games. The U.S. will be looking to capture a fifth gold medal in women's soccer.
