Report: MLS proposing Orlando as destination to resume season

Major League Soccer has proposed Orlando as the destination for all 26 teams to resume the 2020 season this summer, sources told The Washington Post's Steven Goff.

Matches would be played without fans at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex inside Disney World, and potentially other locations, according to Goff.

Over 1,000 personnel including players, coaches, and support staff would reportedly be quarantined indefinitely at a nearby resort. However, players wouldn't be allowed to bring their families, sources told Goff.

Teams played just two games each this season before MLS suspended the campaign indefinitely in March due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The hiatus will last until at least June 8.

MLS isn't the only professional North American sports league that is reportedly considering Disney World as a "bubble-like" locale to safely resume its season. The NBA has reportedly narrowed down its options to the massive Florida theme park or a resort in Las Vegas. MGM Resorts International, which owns the Mandalay Bay Resort in Vegas, also reportedly pitched MLS on potentially resuming its season there.
