Report: Jack Wilshere in running for Colorado Rapids head coach vacancy

Major League Soccer's Colorado Rapids are considering hiring Jack Wilshere to succeed Robin Fraser as their next permanent head coach, according to The Athletic's David Ornstein.

Wilshere reportedly impressed in an interview with the Rapids after Arsenal gave the MLS franchise permission to talk to the former England midfielder. The clubs are both owned by the Kroenke Sports & Entertainment group.

The 31-year-old retired from playing in July 2022 and promptly took control of Arsenal's Under-18 team. Wilshere impressed at the club with his incredible work ethic, Ornstein noted, and he oversaw the young Gunners' run to the 2022-23 FA Youth Cup final.

Wilshere is reportedly keen to progress his career in senior football.

Chris Little has served as the Rapids' interim manager since Fraser's departure on Sept. 5. Since that change, the club has taken seven points from a possible 18 in MLS. The Rapids were mathematically eliminated from playoff contention on Sept. 25.
