Buchanan, Kone back for Canada as Cornelius misses Nations League duty
Jesse Marsch welcomed Tajon Buchanan and Ismael Kone back into the Canada men's national team fold Friday after the pair missed recent camps for their country.
Canada is preparing for two legs against Suriname in the Nations League quarterfinals. The opening fixture is set for the Surinamese capital of Paramaribo next Friday before the decisive leg is contested in Toronto on Nov. 19.
Buchanan is yet to feature for Inter Milan this season after he injured his shin at Copa America in July. Kone skipped international duty in September and October with separate injury complaints but should be close to full fitness after featuring in Marseille's last three outings.
Derek Cornelius, who plays with Kone at Marseille, is unavailable for club and country after suffering a chest injury in last weekend's Ligue 1 meeting with Nantes.
"We are looking forward to getting the group together again with the mindset that there is a trophy on the line," Marsch said. "We want to end 2024 the right way with two excellent performances against a competitive Suriname squad and continue building on our tremendous growth this past summer."
