Vancouver Whitecaps sign head coach Carl Robinson, staff to multi-year extensions
The Vancouver Whitecaps are rewarding head coach Carl Robinson and his staff for guiding the club to its best-ever season.
The club announced Sunday that Robinson, assistant coaches Martyn Pert and Gordon Forrest and goalkeeper coach Marius Rovde have been signed to multi-year contract extensions.
Terms of the respective deals were not released.
In his first season at BC Place, the 38-year-old bench boss guided the Whitecaps to a franchise record 50 points (12-14-8) and a playoff berth, while also leading them to the Cascadia Cup title and qualification in the CONCACAF Champions League for the first time in club history.
"In just one year, Carl and his staff have done an exceptional job in establishing a foundation, bringing in quality players and people, and taking this team to the next level," Whitecaps president Bob Lenarduzzi said. "They are all highly respected not only within our club, but also around the league and the soccer world. We are confident that their eye for talent, dedication and hard work will continue to yield positive results."
