LA Galaxy clinch playoff berth with draw against Seattle Sounders
The LA Galaxy's quest for another MLS Cup rolled on without a hiccup Sunday, as the California side clinched a playoff spot with a 1-1 draw against the Seattle Sounders at CenturyLink Field.
The reigning champions took the pitch in Seattle needing a win or a draw in order to qualify early for a postseason berth, and achieved just that, with a goal courtesy of captain Robbie Keane. Chad Barrett responded with a late goal for Seattle, but the draw was all the Galaxy needed.
The Galaxy will now look for its star players - Steven Gerrard, Giovani Dos Santos, and Keane - to keep the momentum going in the playoffs, as the club continues chasing ambitions of total league domination.
Meanwhile, Seattle will need to defer to next week. Its own playoff hopes rest in the wild-card mix, where the San Jose Earthquakes, Houston Dynamo, and Portland Timbers are all in the hunt, too.
