VIDEO: McCarty's diving header gives Red Bulls lead over D.C. United in East semis

A dull first half looked set for an even duller second 45 minutes as the New York Red Bulls took on D.C. United at RFK Stadium in the first leg of their Eastern Conference Semifinal.

But, Red Bulls midfielder Dax McCarty livened up the game, silencing the D.C. home crowd with a diving header goal in the 72nd minute to give his side a 1-0 lead.

McCarty, a candidate for the league's MVP award, bagged the goal with a smile, knowing full well how important that goal is for his side, since away goals are the first tiebreaker over the two legs of the semifinal round.
