VIDEO: Justin Meram scores just 9 seconds into playoff match
Columbus Crew winger Justin Meram was clearly hyped for his side's Eastern Conference Championship match against the New York Red Bulls - so much so that Meram took all of nine seconds to score the opening goal of the game.
Meram punched a shot past Red Bulls goalkeeper Luis Robles after a long ball came in from the middle. Ethan Finlay controlled the effort, before the ball spilled over for Meram to finish. It is the fastest goal in MLS playoff history.
GOOOOAL!!!!! Nine seconds into the match and it's number nine who puts it away! #CrewSC leads 1-0 already! #CLBvNY pic.twitter.com/ZiEDyEsno9

Better yet, Meram's goal came against a team that had only just broken the record for the fastest goal scored in MLS, when Mike Grella scored in seven seconds against the Philadelphia Union on Oct. 18.
A nine-second goal for the Crew's No. 9 - now that's how you kick off a playoff game.
