D.C. United exercises contract option on Fabian Espindola, 9 others
D.C. United exercised contract options on 10 players Monday, including designated player Fabian Espindola.
Espindola led the club in assists (7) despite starting just 15 times last season due to injuries. He also had to serve a six-match suspension for pushing an assistant referee during the MLS Eastern Conference semifinal the previous year.

United also signed goalkeeper Travis Worra, defenders Sean Franklin, Steven Birnbaum, Taylor Kemp, Chris Korb, and Luke Mishu, and midfielders Conor Doyle, Miguel Aguilar, and Jared Jeffrey.
The club didn't pick up options for midfielder Michael Farfan or forward Jairo Arrieta, but could try to re-sign Arrieta at a lower rate in the re-entry draft, according to Steven Goff of The Washington Post. He earned $165,000 last season while making 27 league appearances.
