Earthquakes pick up Chad Barrett to bolster attacking ranks
The San Jose Earthquakes are looking to bounce back from a disappointing 2015 season with more bite. In an effort to bolster its attacking ranks, the club announced Tuesday the acquisition of veteran forward Chad Barrett.
The 30-year-old striker, who has spent 11 years in MLS with Toronto FC, the LA Galaxy, the New England Revolution, and the Seattle Sounders, was available after becoming a free agent at the end of the 2015 campaign.
Head coach Dominic Kinnear was adamant that adding Barrett helps his side, saying the 30-year-old is "coming off a very good season," and added that acquiring Barrett makes San Jose "a more dangerous attacking team."
As for Barrett himself, he's looking forward to a new challenge in 2016.
“I’m very happy to be continuing my career with San Jose,” Barrett said. “I’m excited to join Dominic Kinnear and John Doyle and the great group of guys they have over there and am looking forward to helping the team any way I can."
