On Thursday, the Philadelphia Union selected Herbers with the 3rd overall pick in the 2016 MLS SuperDraft, an acquisition that will provide the club with some depth in front of goal. The German midfielder - who can also play as a forward - is part of the 2016 Generation Adidas class, and tallied 15 goals and 17 assists during his third season at Creighton University.

A business major who was born in Ahaus, Germany, Herbers, 22, was the NCAA Division I points leader in 2015 and a MAC Hermann Trophy finalist. He defines himself as a player who likes "holding the ball" and "making runs off the ball."
