The Chicago Fire announced Monday the club has acquired midfielder John Goossens, signing the Dutchman to a two-year deal with a third-year option.
Goossens, an attacking midfielder by trade, joins a team undergoing a bit of rebirth, guided by new club brass in general manager Nelseon Rodriguez and head coach Veljko Paunovic.
"John's style of play suits our team quite well," Rodriguez said in a statement. "He is tidy on the ball. He can score from distance, run at the defense and play the final ball. His experience and willingness to serve as a role model to our younger players is an added plus."
