Wanderlei Silva undergoing shoulder surgery after he was hit by car
Wanderlei Silva suffered a shoulder injury after being struck by a vehicle on Wednesday, according to the fighter's official Facebook account.
The accident is said to have occurred when Silva was heading home after training.
"We inform that Wand has been in an accident," the statement reads, according to Bloody Elbow's Lucaz Rezende. "A car hit him while he was returning home on his bike following a training session. Because of that, he injured his shoulder and undergoes surgery today. We ask for your prayers for our champion."
Neither a timeline nor the severity of the injury for the 39-year-old fighter was provided.
Silva is currently serving a suspension by the Nevada Athletic Commission for refusing to take a drug test. He signed with Rizin FF and Bellator MMA after being released from the UFC in January.
