McGregor was supposed to fight Rafael Dos Anjos for the UFC Lightweight Championship. However, Dos Anjos pulled out due to a broken foot and McGregor agreed to move up another weight class in order to take on Diaz.
Diaz and McGregor were slated to fight at UFC 200, but the UFC Featherweight champion balked at participating in promotional events leading up to the fight.
McGregor will enter the contest with a 19-3 record, while Diaz stands at 19-10.
