Canadian light heavyweight fighter Ryan Jimmo is dead at 34, UFC president Dana White confirmed on Sunday.

Jimmo was struck by a vehicle in a hit-and-run incident in Edmonton, Alberta early Sunday morning after police say an altercation took place.

After approaching a vehicle in a parking lot on foot, Jimmo was struck as he began to walk away, Mack Lamoureux of CBC News reports. The vehicle was a dark colored pickup truck occupied by at least two Caucasian males.

Jimmo was treated but later died of his injuries in hospital.

The 34-year-old was a veteran of seven UFC fights and appeared on season eight of The Ultimate Fighter.

He last fought in 2015, a loss to Francimar Barroso, but is most known for his 12-second KO of Anthony Perosh in his UFC debut in 2012.
