Miller finishes Gomi in 1st round to open UFC 200

Jim Miller hasn't missed a beat since UFC 100.

As one of two fighters on the UFC 200 card who competed at the company's last centennial event (the other being Brock Lesnar), Miller marked his place at the history books by recording wins at both shows when he defeated Takanori Gomi by TKO in the preliminary opener Saturday in Las Vegas.

At UFC 100 seven years ago, Miller won a unanimous decision against Mac Danzig.

Saturday's victory is the 15th UFC win for Miller, tying him with Donald Cerrone for the second-most wins in lightweight division history. Miller is also second for most lightweight appearances inside the Octagon with 24.

The 32-year-old Miller made short work of the PRIDE Fighting Championships legend, catching a kick early and taking Gomi to the ground.

From there, Miller immediately took his back and searched for submissions. Gomi did his best to defend, only to fall to a ground-and-pound assault that forced the stoppage at the 2:18 mark of Round 1.

Gomi was finished for the third straight time and has now dropped four of his last five fights.
