Jon Jones' manager compares PED situation to girl getting drugged at bar

The Jon Jones PR nightmare continues.

This time it was his manager, Malki Kawa, putting his foot in his mouth as he appeared on a recent episode of Chael Sonnen's "You're Welcome!" podcast to defend his client, who recently failed an out-of-competition drug test.

That high-profile embarrassment resulted in Jones being pulled from UFC 200 on July 9, just three days before the event.

In attempting to explain how Jones is being wrongly blamed for what Kawa and his team are arguing is a simple misunderstanding over a tainted supplement, Kawa compared Jones to a girl who's sexually assaulted after someone puts something in her drink without her knowledge.

"If somebody takes something that they are not supposed to take and they knowingly do so, you got a product - at the end of the day, if I'm taking steroids, I know what I'm taking. If I'm taking estrogen blockers, I know what I'm taking. If I'm drinking alcohol, I know what I am drinking. Right? This is the problem with this whole system.

"This is like saying - and I might get ripped for this tomorrow - if you're a girl at the bar and you have your drink there and a guy comes and sits next to you and he slips something into your drink and you get raped, 'Well, sweetheart, you should have been watching your drink.' That's exactly what you tell anybody who says, 'Wait a minute, I didn't do this, I'm not a cheater, I got all these blood tests I've done so far that prove I'm not cheating, and now all of a sudden I'm cheating? Wait a minute, I didn't cheat.' It has to be somewhere."

Jones is set to appeal his doping violation to avoid receiving a two-year suspension from MMA competition. Presumably, his lawyers will present a more compelling argument than this one.
