Page dreams of joint UFC-Bellator show

There are a lot of fight fans who would like to see Bellator MMA star Michael Page face off against the best of the UFC welterweight division.

If Page had his way, he'd be able to fulfill that wish while still performing under the banner of his current employers. "MVP" envisions a scenario not unlike when the WWE purchased rival professional wrestling promotion WCW in 2001, leading to a storyline in which WCW "invaded" the WWE.

The dynamics of a UFC-Bellator partnership would be far more complicated considering the UFC has never agreed to any degree of co-promotion. But that hasn't stopped Page from considering the possibilities.

"Friendly competition is good, and if the UFC and Bellator could somehow work together, and do joint bouts it would be incredible," Page told Jim Edwards of FloCombat on Friday. "It would bring me back to those WWE days. Man, it was immense, I remember watching those shows and that changed the game for them.

"If the UFC and Bellator could just shake hands and work together on a few things then it would be better for the fighters, better for the fans and better for everyone. That's that man - I'd be down with that."

Page was in Hamburg, Germany on Saturday to support teammate Jim Wallhead who was competing at UFC Fight Night 93. He could actually be seen on the Fight Pass online broadcast, but that's likely as close as he'll get to the Octagon for the foreseeable future.

"I've worked with the guys in Bellator for a long time, and I really like those guys there. They are very professional and efficient," Page said. "All I would say about the UFC is that they seem to have more people here and they have a slightly bigger setup in terms of what goes on behind. So far though, watching Jimmy going through what he's been going through, it's been roughly the same. There are no major differences."

Page is looking to add to his 11-0 professional record when he faces Fernando Gonzalez at Bellator 163 on Nov. 19.
