Evans confirms middleweight fight with Kennedy at UFC 205
After a litany of rumors and premature announcements, UFC 205 finally has its first confirmed fight.
On Friday, Rashad Evans told CBS Sports he'll meet Tim Kennedy in his middleweight debut at the promotion's first event in New York City. The fight will be a homecoming of sorts for Evans, who hails from Niagara Falls, N.Y.
A former UFC light heavyweight champion, "Suga," 36, will attempt to reinvent himself at 185 pounds after dropping his last two fights. The most recent came in May at UFC on FOX 19, where he ended on the wrong side of a first-round knockout, courtesy of Glover Teixeira.
After a two-year layoff, Kennedy will look to reclaim his place among the middleweight elite. The military man won his first three fights in the UFC before being finished by Yoel Romero in their controversial clash at UFC 178.
UFC 205 is scheduled for Nov. 12 at Madison Square Garden.
