Watch: Punk gives Gall UFC 203 post-fight pep talk
CM Punk had some words of wisdom for Mickey Gall, whether he needed them or not.
It certainly looked like Punk was the one who could use some advice after being brutalized by Mickey Gall at UFC 203 on Saturday. It was the first MMA contest for Punk, a 37-year-old former WWE Superstar with no competitive combat sports experience.
On Wednesday, the UFC released a preview of their latest clip in "The Thrill and the Agony" series, in which Punk can be heard giving encouragement to Gall. At 24, Gall has the makings of a solid MMA prospect and Punk gave him what advice he could to keep him straight.
"Listen to me. Don't ever say you don't belong. OK," said Punk. "You always belong. You've got to believe in yourself. You're obviously a better man than I am. OK. Don't ever (expletive) short yourself. Everybody else wants to short you. You know, I believed in myself. You've got to believe in yourself as much as I believe in me."
Punk received plenty of criticism for his performance and plenty of praise for how he carried himself before and after the fight, so maybe the promotion can keep him on as a company-sponsored life coach.
