Report: Weidman-Romero planned for UFC 205
Former middleweight champion Chris Weidman is close to securing a fight with Yoel Romero at UFC 205 in New York on Nov. 12.
The bout was initially reported as being finalized by John Morgan and Dann Stupp of MMAjunkie.com, but Weidman has reportedly not signed a bout agreement, according to MMA Fighting's Ariel Helwani.
Romero's camp appears to be all in. On Sept. 7, the Cuban fighter posted an image to Instagram of himself signing a contract for the Weidman bout, before promptly deleting the post.
Weidman-Romero is expected to be on UFC 205's main card, but won't headline the event.
It will be Weidman's first fight since dropping his title to Luke Rockhold in December, while Romero will look to extend his seven-fight unbeaten run following a six-month suspension for a failed drug test.
It's likely the winner will get a shot at taking down current middleweight champion Michael Bisping.
