Latest USADA update shows St-Pierre officially begins drug testing

Georges St-Pierre's negotiations with the UFC may still be in progress, but he's already going through the necessary protocol for a potential comeback.

The United States Anti-Doping Agency's latest round of data shows that "GSP" was randomly tested twice last week, with four samples being provided, per Jim Edwards of FloCombat.

This is the first update on St-Pierre's drug test status since news broke in August that he was placing himself in the USADA testing pool that is standard for all UFC fighters.

The 35-year-old St-Pierre has been on extended hiatus from MMA since November 2013.

Retired fighters are required to enter the USADA pool four months before returning to active competition. St-Pierre has said in the past that he wouldn't consider fighting again until the UFC implemented more stringent drug testing, something the promotion aimed to do when it teamed up with the USADA last July.

While the results of St-Pierre's tests are yet to be revealed, they will be a moot point if a deal with the UFC cannot be made.

In recent interviews, UFC president Dana White has questioned the former welterweight champion's desire to fight again, while GSP has dismissed such comments as a negotiating tactic and reiterated that it is strictly financial complications that are keeping him from committing to a comeback.
