Watch: 'Baby Slice' loses by submission in professional debut
Nobody told "Baby Slice" that his first fight would be easy.
Kevin Ferguson Jr.'s professional MMA debut ended in disappointment as he was submitted by Aaron Hamilton in the second round of their welterweight bout at Bellator 165 on Saturday. The son of recently deceased MMA star Kimbo Slice, Ferguson showed a lot of promise before he succumbed to a D'Arce choke.
In the first round, Ferguson surprisingly went to his wrestling to bring the fight to the mat, a tactic his father rarely employed. He landed punches from top position before clipping Hamilton with an illegal knee that put a halt to the action momentarily. The referee did not deduct a point and Ferguson was likely ahead on the scorecards after Round 1.
Ferguson initiated the grappling again in Round 2, which cost him when he failed to secure a choke. Hamilton turned the tables on Ferguson and locked in a choke of his own to force "Baby Slice" to tap out.
