UFC to host 3 events in Brazil in 2017
The UFC will continue to do right by its Brazilian fanbase in the new year.
UFC Vice President of International Business Development Joe Carr announced the promotion will make three trips to the South American nation in 2017. The news came shortly after UFC Fight Night 100 wrapped up in Sao Paulo on Saturday.
The UFC had previously revealed it would be returning to the country on March 11, but the remaining two dates have yet to be confirmed.
Despite the recent departure of now-former UFC Brazil general manager Giovani Decker and heavy staff cuts in a number of international offices, Carr insisted the promotion's business in the nation would remain a top priority.
"We're committed to this market," Carr said, according to MMAjunkie's Steven Marrocco and John Morgan. "Brazil is still the most important country outside the U.S. for the UFC. The new ownership is focused on this market, as well."
The newly announced trio of Brazilian cards matches the promotion's 2016 total.
