White: Pettis is 'too old' to make featherweight limit
UFC president Dana White suggested Friday that Anthony Pettis is "too old" to make the 145-pound limit of the featherweight division.
Pettis, 29, was two pounds over weight for his scheduled interim featherweight title fight against Max Holloway at Saturday's UFC 206. The fight will still take place, but only Holloway will have an opportunity to win the interim title.
White told TSN's Michael Landsberg that if Pettis beats Holloway, White must decide whether Pettis can make weight for a potential future featherweight title fight against champion Jose Aldo.
It doesn't sound like White believes Pettis can.
White praised Pettis' work to make weight for Saturday's fight, but said he believes Pettis' failure to do so indicates he's "too old and he's too big" to reach the limit.
Others have agreed, suggesting Pettis is miscast as a featherweight:
Before you slate Pettis about not making weight, look at this picture. He did everything. It's just not his division. https://t.co/2egr5hVVtl
