Lombard-Tavares cancelled, Spicely-Di Chirico added to UFC Denver
Injuries to Hector Lombard and Brad Tavares will keep the pair of middleweights from squaring off at UFC on FOX 23 in Denver on Jan. 28, per a Tuesday report from MMAFighting.
The 38-year-old Lombard has lost his last two fights by knockout, with the last coming at the hands of Dan Henderson at UFC 199. Tavares most recently took a split decision over Caio Magalhaes at UFC 203.
Another 185-pound matchup has since been added to the Colorado card, as Eric Spicely and Alessio di Chirico will both look for their second straight win in the Octagon. Spicely notched a massive upset over Thiago Santos via first-round submission at UFC Fight Night 95 in his last outing, while Di Chirico edged Garreth McLellan by split decision at UFC on FOX 21 back in August.
The January event will be headlined by a women's bantamweight bout between top contenders Valentina Shevchenko and Julianna Pena.
