Overeem, Hunt lead UFC 209 payouts
Heavyweights Alistair Overeem and Mark Hunt led the payouts for this past Saturday's UFC 209, pocketing $750,000 each, MMAjunkie reports, citing a list obtained from the Nevada State Athletic Commission.
"The Reem" earned every penny, fighting through food poisoning and more than a few of Hunt's slobberknockers to flatten him with a vicious combination for a third-round KO.
Also netting six-figure paydays were welterweight champion Tyron Woodley and Stephen "Wonderboy" Thompson, with Woodley retaining the title by majority decision after a handful of uneventful rounds. The champ earned $500,000 - including a $100,000 win bonus - while Thompson took home $380,000.
Had Khabib Nurmagomedov been healthy enough to make his ill-fated interim lightweight title bout with Tony Ferguson, he would've made $500,000, easily the biggest payday of his career, while Ferguson stood to pocket $250,000.
Rounding out the event's notable payouts was former light heavyweight champion Rashad Evans, who took $150,000 in a losing effort to Dan Kelly in his middleweight debut.
