Roy Nelson to fight Volkov at UFC Kansas City
A heavyweight bout between veterans Roy Nelson and Alexander Volkov has been added to UFC on FOX 24.
No official announcement has been made for the bout, but it can be seen on the web page for the event, which is scheduled for April 15 in Kansas City.
Nelson is in a 3-6 slump, but he was able to defeat Antonio "Bigfoot" Silva by second-round KO last September. The 40-year-old recently avoided a suspension after a minor altercation with referee John McCarthy in the aftermath of the Silva fight.
Volkov made a successful debut with the UFC last November, squeaking out a win over Timothy Johnson by split decision. The former Bellator heavyweight champion has won three straight and has a 27-6 professional record.
UFC on FOX 24 takes place at the Sprint Center. It's scheduled to be headlined by a flyweight title bout between champion Demetrious Johnson and challenger Wilson Reis.
